Initial Contact

Rote · Mage

Mage

The initial contact between the summoner and the summoned depends a great deal upon the relationship they expect to share. A newbie magician calling up his very first spirit will probably find himself dealing with an amused creature who’s eager to test the amateur’s skill; an experienced shaman will receive a degree of respect from the entity; and a skilled magus may earn fearful homage from a spirit who has heard of his prowess from other entities. Reputation means a lot in this sort of thing, and the mage with a few successful summoning and bargains under his belt will have an easier time than one who’s new to this sort of thing. (See the Spirit Bargaining chart for potential modifiers.)
