Necropants of Bishop Olaf
Wonder · Mage
Arete 4, Quintessence 20, Background Cost 4 pts.
A recent news article spread through the Victorian World describing this macabre wonder, bringing them to the attention of many. These horrid Nábrók or corpse britches are said to only have existed in folklore, but one pair has been passed down a familial line in Iceland. A body must be dug up after burial, and the skin from the waist down must be flayed with a blade made of flint. A silver coin must be stolen from a widow, placed in the wearer’s scrotum with a specific stave, and then the wearer must step into the pants. The pants draw wealth to the wearer, but to retain their power they must be passed from person to person by carefully removing one leg while the new owner steps into them. The current owner of this monstrous talisman is an Icelandic hedge mage named Katla Valsdóttir.
System
These pants allow the wearer to collect mon ey, increasing the wearer’s Resources by 2 dots. However, any person wearing these gives off an unsettling vibe to those around them, creating a perpetual sense of unease. Further, they act as a Fetter for the wraith or specter of the person who they were cut from, and they may manifest for free in their presence (see Wraith: The Oblivion 20th Anniversary Edition). This Effect is uncanny. Further, on a successful activation roll, requiring at least three successes at difficulty 7, the wearer may step directly into the Shad owlands. While there, they appear to be a normal wraith, except they have no Shadow. This Effect is catastrophic.
