Digital Death: The De-Rez

That death, incidentally, tends to be as permanent as your method of travel. De-rezing when you’re in sensory visitation mode usually results in a headache and scattered perceptions but not much worse than that. An astral visitor gets those effects, plus – quite often – minor brain damage, physical burns, or both. A traveler who gets cacked while holistically immersed dies for real. The more you enter, the more you risk. And so, while the Digital Web offers opportunities to die another day, that death might one day prove permanent.
