As many martial arts have emphasized, the warrior who wins in her mind before the fight begins has often won without striking a blow. Focusing her determination – often through a war-cry, kata, prayer, or Glare of Death – the mage either unnerves her opponent or else assures herself of victory.

Story-wise, the difference between this technique and the previous feats comes through the approach. A calming gaze or predator’s eye is external, acting upon the opponent; this “victory in the mind” is internal, acting upon the mage.
