Both Ranks can soothe an already-tired character toward a natural slumber, but neither one actually compels that character to fall asleep NOW. That character takes her own time falling asleep, and can resist that slumber for a while if need be.","A similar approach employs {@sphere Life|M20} 3 to induce sleepiness through an alteration in the target’s body chemistry. Generally, this takes the form of encroaching weariness, although the Hollywood-style rap on the noggin might have the same effect without dishing out the brain-trauma that a real blow to the head inflicts upon a living target. In this case, too, the target can resist sleep with successful Willpower rolls, and it may take a while before the slumber finally kicks in."],"tags":["hdydt","feat"],"_qa":{"flags":[],"parser":"headed_entries","confidence":0.9,"extracted":"2026-10-12","job":"hdydt-feats"},"level":null,"_links":{"self":"/api/v1/records/mage/power/rote/the-subtle-approach","html":"/records/mage/power/rote/the-subtle-approach","parent":null,"children":"/api/v1/records/mage/power/rote/the-subtle-approach/children","sources":[{"abbr":"HDYDT","page":129,"folio":129,"title":"How Do You DO That?"}]},"_db":{"title":"The Subtle Approach","props":[],"parent_id":null,"level":null,"category":null,"summary":"A mage who wants to lull his target to sleep can use Mind 2 or 3 to urge his target toward slumber.
